An autopsy on the body of previously-missing Loyola University grad student Christopher Evans was inconclusive, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

According to the Associated Press, authorities were unable to determined the cause of Evans' death pending further studies.

On Thursday, officials confirmed the body discovered in Lake Michigan in Belmont Harbor was that of Evans, 25.

Police canceled their alert for Evans on Thursday, NBC Chicago reports. Someone called authorities about the body around 8:30 a.m. and the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit recovered the grad student's body a short time later.

Evans was last seen leaving Roscoe's Tavern in the 3300 block of North Halsted Street around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, and has not been seen since then, ChicagoPride.com reports.

Evans, a part-time grad student at Loyola University Chicago, was described by those who know him as "calm, collected." He was in the city's Boystown neighborhood Saturday evening to celebrate Pride as a straight ally to Sigma Pi fraternity brothers he knew at Grand Valley State University in Michigan as an undergrad, a friend told DNAinfo Chicago.
