WATCH: Fox News Welcomes Elisabeth Hasselbeck

The "Fox & Friends" host welcomed its newest team member on Wednesday by announcing that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be joining the program in September.

Gretchen Carlson, sitting between co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, thanked viewers for tuning in each morning. She announced that she would be leaving the morning show to host a one-hour afternoon program beginning in September, leaving an open spot on the couch for Hasselbeck.

"And in Gretchen's place, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who has been a friend to this program for a number of years—for the last 10 years she's been over at 'The View,'" Doocy said. "She will be joining us very shortly in September to be one of the hosts of 'Fox & Friends.' Today, we understand, is her last day at 'The View.'"

"She's going on 'The View' today? She's actually going to be on the show?" Kilmeade asked.

"It's her last day, and we look forward to welcoming her over here as well," Carlson said.

Fox News has announced a string of scheduling changes in recent weeks. Afternoon host Megyn Kelly said she would be moving from her 1:00 p.m. timeslot to a primetime hour. It's unclear if Kelly will co-host a show with one of the primetime hosts already in place, or replace one of the hosts with her own program.
