Happy 74th birthday, Mavis Staples!
The longtime gospel icon and native Chicagoan, who celebrates her big day on July 10, has been keeping busy in her golden years.
The Staples Singers legend is currently on a nationwide tour supporting her latest album, "One True Vine" which — in addition to being produced by her contemporary collaboration partner, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy — is reaping high praise and rave reviews.
Staples, who won her first Grammy at 71 for her Tweedy collaboration on "You Are Not Alone" will play her hometown in September when she headlines the A.V. Club Festival/Hideout Block Party.
