NEW YORK -- Eliot Spitzer didn't vote in the 2012 presidential election even after he wrote a column proclaiming his support for Barack Obama.

Citing New York City Board of Elections records, the New York Post ( reports that the former New York governor didn't vote on Nov. 6, 2012. Nor did he submit an absentee ballot.

On Monday, Spitzer launched an 11th -hour comeback campaign to become New York City comptroller. He has until midnight Thursday to collect 3,750 valid signatures to get on the Democratic primary ballot.

Spitzer wrote his column in support of Obama four days before the election. It appeared on Slate magazine's website.
