WATCH: This Awesome Rap Video Honors Malala Yousafzai

On October 9, 2012, 15-year-old Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by Taliban militants. Her crime? Daring to speak out and demand universal education for all girls. Thankfully, this incredible young woman recovered and today, on her 16th birthday, her strength and determination are being honored. The United Nations has declared July 12th Malala Day and invited Malala to make her first speech since her attack.

But those participating in the U.N. event aren't the only ones eager to thank Malala for her incredible bravery. Malala's father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, teamed up with a Grammy Award-winning producer to create a music video that showcases three young performers, as well as 30 female choir singers from all over the world, who raise their voices in support of Malala's actions and dream of universal education for women.

The video, "I Am Malala," debuts today, and proceeds from the song's iTunes sales will benefit the Malala Fund, an independent non-governmental organization that will advocate for the empowerment and education of girls everywhere.
