Kris Schoels, 'Young Married Chic' Blogger, Shares Her Tranquil Beach-Inspired Home (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: A City Home That Will Remind You Of The Beach

When TV personality and lifestyle blogger Kris Schoels of Young Married Chic offered to give our friends at The Lovely Bits a house tour, we jumped on the opportunity to get a peek at her place. And after seeing her stunning abode in person, we now know that this domestic diva has a few talents up her sleeve in addition to whipping up delicious food and planning fabulous parties.

Schoels, her husband and their two adorable pups moved into their home just outside of Manhattan three years ago, which has been a work-in-progress ever since. The house was originally dark and traditional, with boxy rooms and heavy drapery. Now, it's a beach-inspired retreat (see the touches of driftwood, capiz shells and "winter sea" hues) made for entertaining. From the open floor plan to the gorgeous kitchen, Schoels home perfectly reflects her lifestyle -- one that involves plenty of dinner parties and the occasional cooking segment for Fox News.

Schoels started out in the fashion industry, which she credits as an experience that honed her (well-trained) eye. She borrowed the grey and blue-toned color palette from the home's view of the Hudson River and combined some splurge pieces with inexpensive finds and family heirlooms. (She loves Arhaus and One Kings Lane.) She went custom for her rustic dining table, built-in bookshelves and a stunning tropical fish tank. (In case you were wondering, she has named all of the fish.) Her best advice, though, is to live in a space for a while before you make any big design decisions. We couldn't agree more.
