George Zimmerman Verdict Leads To Inevitable Media Circus

The Inevitable Post-Verdict Media Circus

With the conclusion of the George Zimmerman trial, the inevitable post-verdict interview blitz has begun with people connected to the case.

Mark O'Mara and Don West, the Zimmerman attorneys who secured a complete acquittal for their client, have been everywhere, appearing on shows ranging from Sean Hannity to "The View." Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family, has aso given interview after interview.

On Monday night, CNN scored two major exclusives, with Anderson Cooper speaking to one of the jurors who ruled in Zimmerman's favor, and Piers Morgan speaking with Rachel Jeantal, the prosecution's star witness. CNN, which was criticized for the amount of time it devoted to the trial, saw that attention pay off with the two scoops.

ABC has also landed some big interviews, talking with the prosecuting attorneys in the case as well as Zimmerman's parents.

So far, though, members of Zimmerman's circle have been far more ubiquitous on television than supporters of Martin's.

Missing from the media circus has been Martin's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, and Zimmerman himself. There is surely a furious effort behind the scenes to secure interviews with all three people. It would not be surprising to see the Martin family turn to Al Sharpton, who has backed them throughout the ordeal of their son's killing and Zimmerman's trial.

It would also not be surprising to see Sean Hannity, who allied himself closely with Zimmerman and whose interview with him was played by the prosecution during the trial, land the first post-verdict exclusive with the newly free defendant.
