We've never understood the wild affection people have for emojis, but if there's one artist who could illuminate the craze, it would be Christine Cha.
Cha combines the simple facial expressions of emoticons with typical images of naked female torsos, creating a clever series -- aptly titled "Nudiemojis" -- that addresses not only people's current obsession with smiling, winking and tongue-wagging faces, but the age old representation of women's bodies in art.
Cha has a knack for toying with the female form in her artwork. In her series "Body Maps," she employs an illustration technique reserved for cartographers to create barely-there images of nude bodies. At first glance, one might spy the faint outlines of European countries, but a second or two more, and the familiar vision of a woman's navel appears.
"Nudiemojis" achieves a similar effect, though Cha has added some hilarious captions to this series that make the project that much more hilarious. Scroll through the nudiemojis below and let us know your thoughts on Cha's handiwork in the comments.
