Chris Christie's gay marriage " balancing act" has been the subject of increased debate over the past week as early speculation over the New Jersey governor's candidacy in the 2016 U.S. presidential election heats up.
Host Dave Rubin spoke at length about Christie's same-sex marriage views alongside comedians Jimmy Dore and Kira Soltanovich on this week's installment of "The Rubin Report."
Dore believes Christie's wavering stance on marriage equality "will matter," because he doesn't see the Republican platform changing in time for the 2016 election: "They will still be anti-gay."
Still, he had choice words for Christie: "He's duplicitous, he's hypocritical, he's self-serving, he's every horrible thing you hate about a politician."
Added Soltanovich: "Everyone's saying he's worried about the swing votes. First of all, if there's anyone out there that's a swing voter, you're an idiot at this point."
Although Christie vetoed same-sex marriage legislation in New Jersey last year, he has said, “When you want to change the core of a 2,000 year-old institution, the way to do that is to put it in front of the voters,” USA Today reported.
