"The Walking Dead" Season 4 has a premiere date.

The network announced at the hit zombie drama's Comic-Con Panel in San Diego that Season 4 will return on Sunday, October 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Like previous seasons, "The Walking Dead's" 16-episode Season 4 will air in two parts. The first eight episodes kick off on October 13 and the remaining eight will begin airing February 2014.

As per usual, the season premiere of AMC's live after show "Talking Dead," hosted by Chris Hardwick, will follow "The Walking Dead" Season 4 premiere at 10 p.m. ET on October 13.

AMC also released a new four-minute, action-packed trailer for "The Walking Dead" Season 4 (above), which finds Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. But, this is "The Walking Dead," of course so happiness is short-lived as walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group's home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested. According to AMC, their "struggle to survive has never been so perilous."

Season 4 also introduces several new "Walking Dead" characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr., "The Wire").

"The Walking Dead" Season 4 premieres on Sunday, October 13 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
