Jesse Tyler Ferguson Married: 'Modern Family' Star Ties The Knot With Justin Mikita

Jesse Tyler Ferguson Marries Justin Mikita

Congratulations go out to Jesse Tyler Ferguson!

The "Modern Family" star married his longtime love Justin Mikita in New York City on Saturday (July 20), Ferguson's rep confirms to People, adding that playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner officiated the ceremony. The Emmy nominee, 37, who plays lawyer Mitchell Pritchett on the hit ABC comedy, got engaged to real-life lawyer Mikita, 27, in Mexico last year after nearly two years of dating.

According to Us Weekly, the pair had over 200 guests at their reception, including Ferguson's co-stars Julie Bowen, Ty Burell and Eric Stonestreet, as well as pals Jerry O' Connell, Rebecca Romijn, Zachary Quinto, Isaac Mizrahi, Arnold Germer, Nigel Barker, Cat Deely, Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio, and Padma Lakshmi. The couple celebrated their nuptials at the 82 Mercer space, which was organized by planner, Bryan Rafanelli.

Despite residing in California, Ferguson and Mikita planned to tie the knot in New York because "that's where it was legal," Ferguson told the ladies of "The View" last month following the historic June 26 Supreme Court ruling that called the California's Prop 8 unconstitutional.

"Weddings are expensive, y'all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal," he explained. "We're too far down the planning path to change."

In lieu of wedding gifts, Ferguson and Mikita asked that guests donate to the marriage equality charity Tie The Knot, to help other same-sex couples win equal rights in their states.
