Video Game Proposal Using Contra Cartridge Is Geeky But Awesome (PHOTOS)

Gamers Will Go Gaga For This Proposal

Video games aren't known for their romantic, fairytale endings. That's why one gamer decided to create his own.

On Wednesday, Redditor Equinn0xX posted photos and a step-by-step description of how he hacked a retro Nintendo Contra cartridge in order to propose to his girlfriend. He was able to modify the game's code to replace "Player 1" and "Player 2" with "Quinn" and "Amy" -- the couple's actual names. Then, he changed the ending text to read, "Congrats Amy!!! You've beat the game, saved the universe and won my heart. Will you marry me?" so that when she beat the game (which she did!), she would receive the special message.

Click through the slideshow below to find out the great length's Equinn0xX went to to make this nerdy, but awesome proposal a reality.

All we have to say is "wow."
