Matthew Vaughn's "The Secret Service" could enlist Emma Watson in a starring role. Variety reports that Watson and "Dark Shadows" actress Bella Heathcote are on Vaughn's short list to play the female lead in the spy film, which already has Colin Firth, Michael Caine and newcomer Taron Egerton in the cast. (British!)
Whether Watson winds up starring remains to be seen. The last two high profile projects Watson was rumored for, "Cinderella" and "50 Shades Of Grey," wound up not happening. (Watson memorably shot down the "50 Shades" gossip with her Twitter account.)
For now, her next film is Darren Aronofsky's "Noah," which also stars Russell Crowe, Logan Lerman, Anthony Hopkins and more. Since leaving the friendly confines of Hogwarts, Watson has made it a point to star in projects from established directors like Aronofsky and Sofia Coppola ("The Bling Ring"), and newcomers like Stephen Chobsky ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower") and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg ("This Is The End"). Vaughn, fresh of "X-Men: First Class" and the "Star Wars: Episode VII" rumor mill, would be another strong entry onto that varied list.
