Female Journalists Face Bomb Threats On Twitter

Multiple female journalists faced bomb threats on Twitter on Wednesday, which has led to a police investigation into the matter.

The Guardian reported that its columnist Hadley Freeman was among the women threatened. The Independent's Grace Dent was also targeted. Dent took a screenshot of the threat, which read, "A BOMB HAS BEEN PLACED OUTSIDE YOUR HOME. IT WILL GO OFF AT EXACTLY 10:47PM ON A TIMER AND TRIGGER DESTROYING EVERYTHING."

After being threatened, Hadley tweeted that she was seeking out the police.

The BBC reported that the bomb threats came after rape threats made on Twitter against MP Stella Creasy, and that a petition calling for Twitter to add a "report abuse" button has been started.
