Dating a friend's ex is usually considered a no-no, as it often leads to complicated emotions and awkwardness. Alex Vasquez, the managing editor of Urban Dater, has experienced both sides of this situation -- he has both dated a friend's ex and had a friend date one of his exes. He shared his story Friday on HuffPost Live.
"The first girlfriend I had was actually an ex of one of my best friends," he explained to host Dena Takruri. "We kept it on the down-low for like a whole year, and so that was a lot of fun. [It was] pretty shady, pretty dubious."
Karma came back to haunt Vasquez when a friend later began dating one of his ex-girlfriends.
"He actually took me to play a game of one-on-one basketball, which was just really kind of awkward. And after he beat me playing basketball, he asked me if he could date my ex. So I was like, 'ok sure, that's not weird at all.' So yeah, what goes around comes around."
Joining Vasquez and Takruri in the conversation were Andreana Leach, a professional marketer, Dr. Ava Cadell, a sex and relationship therapist and the founder of Loveology University, and Debbie Burgin, a divorce coach and author of 'The Joy of Ex'.
