UPDATE: May 4, 2015 -- The Los Angeles city attorney dropped all charges against Scott Hounsell in May 2014, citing an inability to find a "victim" or "forensics." The Washington Examiner reports the 16-year-old girl whom Hounsell had reportedly contacted refused to testify, and investigators were reportedly unable to find any evidence that Hounsell had actually sent her any messages via Facebook.
In November, Hounsell filed suit against the city attorney's office on claims of defamation, false arrest, malicious prosecution and violation of his 14th Amendment rights. His case is in the process of being amended per the judge's request.

On Friday, the former executive director of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County was arrested for allegedly sending sexual explicit material to a 16-year-old over social media. Authorities came to his house with a warrant following an investigation by the LAPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. He was charged with a misdemeanor and later released on $40,000 bail.
While Hounsell, 30, had resigned from his role in the county GOP in June for an unrelated reason, a party spokesman told KABC, it turns out that he had recently thrown a number of partisan jabs at Democrats facing questions for indiscretions of their own.

In the last tweet sent from Hounsell's account, he mocked Democratic San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who has been accused by at least 10 women of inappropriate conduct.
Filner began a two-week leave of absence on Monday, during which he is expected to participate in therapy for his behavior.
