What is the best way to support a loved one who is trying to quit smoking? When she joined me on Mondays With Marlo, Chief Medical Editor for NBC News Dr. Nancy Snyderman explained that nicotine is addictive, but it's not the part of a cigarette that kills you. The carcinogens in cigarettes are what cause cancer. Dr. Snyderman suggests getting your loved one a nicotine patch and nicotine gum. Help them avoid smoking triggers, give them positive reinforcement and lay on a little guilt.
