A high school English teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old male student has pleaded not guilty to charges of child endangerment and sexual contact of a student.
Kalee Warnick, 22, a first-year teacher at Wall High School in Wall Township, N.J., posted $50,000 bail on Thursday, officials at the Monmouth County prosecutors office told Manasquan Patch.
Details of the allegations against Warnick haven't been made public, but the incident was reported to police July 14, and Board of Education agenda documents show she worked as a home instructor for the district in June, according to the Asbury Park Press.
The attorney for the family of the boy making the allegations told the Associated Press that the teenager has gone through a "horrible ordeal."
However, Warnick's attorney, Alton Kenney, told the AP before the court appearance that she would plead not guilty "because she is, in fact, not guilty."
Warnick graduated from Wall High School in 2008.
A Facebook page called "Kalee Warnick is innocent until proven guilty" was created Friday in support of the teacher, but the page was unavailable as of Thursday afternoon.
