There's no food more iconic of the holidays than sugar plums. Even if most of us have never had one, or have the faintest idea of what they even are, we can all picture sugar plums dancing through children's heads as was illustrated by the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas." But those are not the sugar plum recipes we're talking about. Nope, we're focusing on fruit recipes made with the sweetest of plums known as the sugar plum.
The sugar plum looks more like a giant purple grape than a plum, and it's a whole lot sweeter. It doesn't have any of that tartness that you can sometimes get in plums, and it's in season right now -- in the summer.
