Jennifer Garner Says Ben Affleck Could Go Into Politics

Posted: Updated:

Jennifer Garner didn't exactly swat away the possibility of husband Ben Affleck jumping into politics, telling Allure magazine that while the "Argo" actor doesn't currently feel like running for office, she wouldn't be shocked if he did.

"Right now [Ben] feels like he can do more good for people politically from outside the system," she said. "Would I be surprised if one day he did go into politics? No. But not now."

Naturally, Garner said she'd support a candidate Affleck: "I'm along for the ride."

Affleck was previously rumored to be running for senate in Massachusetts last year, and has often and candidly addressed his political views. In a 2012 interview with Bill O'Reilly, for example, Affleck defended the Central Intelligence Agency (which figures prominently in "Argo") and said he was voting for Obama.

The 40-year-old actor is also highly involved in raising awareness about violence in Eastern Congo, having traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with high-level lawmakers and officials. Affleck founded the Eastern Congo Initiative and has traveled to the country upwards of 10 times.
