We Tried Banana Republic's Version Of Kate Middleton's Issa Engagement Dress -- Here's How It Looks (PHOTOS)

We Tried Banana Republic's Version Of Kate Middleton's Issa Engagement Dress

The Kate Middleton Effect is more real than ever, meaning everything the Duchess of Cambridge wears becomes instantly coveted by all... and sells out in stores immediately. Though we all want to look like the duchess, sometimes steep price tags and bespoke items get in the way (who among us didn't weep tears of sadness when we found out that Middleton's Jenny Packham hospital dress was one of a kind?).

But have no fear: Kate Middleton's favorite designer, Daniella Issa Helayel, the woman behind Issa London, has our backs. The high-end British brand recently collaborated with Banana Republic, where they churned out design after design fit for a princess. But the one item that stood out most was Issa's replica of Middleton's famous engagement dress (you remember the sapphire-hued wrap dress, right?). Aside for the fact that it's a dead ringer for the original, it carries a price tag that will surely make you smile -- $130 to be exact.

To compare and contrast the dresses, we had our Senior Style Editor, Ellie Krupnick, model the Banana Republic version. The jersey material was not quite as thick and luxurious as the real silk one, and the sizing seemed a little off (we noticed a little gapping in the bust area), but the style was insanely flattering. Though the royal blue color is sold out online, we bet you just may be able to track one down at your local Banana Republic.

So, what do you think of the replica dress? Is it pulling on your purse strings?
