Art is imitating life on tonight's "Necessary Roughness" (Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET) as the USA drama tackles the issue of performance enhancing drugs ("doping") in professional sports. The USA drama even goes so far as to name-check New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who was recently suspended for 211 games after reportedly using and possessing "numerous forms of prohibited performance-enhancing substances."
In HuffPost TV's exclusive clip above, sports agent Connor McClane (John Stamos) encourages his client, football star Terrence "TK" King (Mehcad Brooks), to attend the agency's medical clinic to get him back to full strength for an ad campaign after suffering a debilitating injury. Unfortunately for TK, the experimental medical treatment being offered requires a nondisclosure agreement, and it may not be completely legal.
"Your V3 clinic, it's not like an A-Rod sitch though, right?" TK asks warily. "I'd hate to get suspended for like, 100 games -- that's like a career in football."
Connor reassures him (kind of) that there's nothing untoward going on at the clinic, telling TK, "I'm not a doctor ... all I know is I send broken down jalopies to the clinic and they come back Lamborghinis, fast and furious -- that's what I want for you."
But can the clinic be trusted? Read the official episode description below:
"Sucker Punch" -- Dr. Dani (Callie Thorne) trades punches with a championship boxer who wants to get back in the ring. TK seeks treatment at the V3 clinic while Nico (Scott Cohen) follows a new lead that takes him to the clinic as well. Abby (Autumn Reeser) is brought into the V3 fold, but it’s unclear whose side she’s really on.
"Necessary Roughness" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
