Posted: Updated:

Popsugar interviewed Twilight author Stephenie Meyer about to talk about her production work with upcoming film "Austenland," her Jane Austen adoration and strong female characters.

Meyer says that she has "loved Jane Austen since [she] was very little." She reveals that she first read Pride and Prejudice because it was on her mother's bookshelf. Since didn't get to go the library as often as she wanted, she just read everything on her mom's bookshelf. She notes that she "read Pride and Prejudice over and over again."

The interviewer points out that many of Meyer's projects feature strong female leads. Meyer says, "I am generally drawn to stories from a woman's perspective because I am female and there aren't quite as many of our stories out there as there are the men's stories."

Meyer also admits that she's a major Hunger Games fan. She relates that she read the first book at the very beginning and was "obsessed" with it.
