Move over, oxblood! Obsidian is poised to take over as fall's "It" nail polish color.
As we transition into wearing darker and moodier shades, obsidian is an interesting departure from traditional black nail polishes, which aren't so flattering on a variety of skin tones. This enhanced version of black with striking yet subtle multi-color flecks renders a versatile shade that's perfect for cold-weather wear, according to celebrity manicurist Jin Soon.
Jin Soon recently teamed up with Tibi for a Fall 2013 nail polish collection inspired by the brand's utilitarian designs, including a galaxy-like shimmer aptly named Obsidian. Their take on the dark and shimmering shade translates into a nail lacquer that works well for all skin tones, styles and age groups.
"Even without using any nail art techniques, Obsidian is so multi-dimensional that it will appear as if you had nail art painted on your nails," said Jin Soon. Her new Matte Maker top coat adds an edgy and elegant twist, and it extends the element of layering down to your fingertips.
