Erin Brockovich On The Ugly Side Of Fame (VIDEO)

When the film "Erin Brockovich" hit theaters in 2000, viewers across the country learned the true story of a single mom, with no formal education, who brought a billion-dollar power company to its knees. Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her portrayal of the film's heroine -- and suddenly, the real-life Brockovich was thrown into the spotlight.

"The movie had a much bigger impact on me than I ever thought that it did," Brockovich recalls during her upcoming appearance on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?"

Although much of the experience was positive, fame altered her life in ways Brockovich wasn't expecting. "I can still feel that moment when everything was just swirling around me," she says. "I could see that it was affecting my children, relationship, my friends."

"I could see jealousy coming up, I could see anger, I could see frustration," Brockovich says. "I could see people's agendas. I could see my kids going wild -- because we never had any money, and suddenly, we had money."

"Oprah: Where Are They Now?" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.
