All six "Star Wars" films have been released in May, and with Disney planting a flag for "Star Wars: Episode VII" in 2015, it had been expected that the next sequel will follow suit. Except it might not. That's the word from Badass Digest's Devin Faraci, who reports that Disney has tossed around the idea of releasing "Star Wars: Episode VII" in December of 2015. HuffPost Entertainment reached out to Disney for comment on the rumor; this post will be updated if the studio's representatives respond.

Whether or not this report turns out to be accurate, that "Star Wars: Episode VII" could land in December does make sense. Not only would it give the new "Star Wars" adventure some space away from "Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron," which is already on the calendar for May of that year, but it would also allow director J.J. Abrams even more time to work on the project. "Star Wars" fans were disappointed when Disney didn't unveil any footage or news about the highly anticipated project at the studio's D23 fan expo earlier this month. Faraci speculated that the silence surrounding "Star Wars" at D23 could have been a byproduct of the fact that Abrams was "rushing to a release date [...] without being fully developed." That sentiment was echoed in a tweet on Monday by Box Office Mojo reporter Ray Subers.
