Cover your eyes, "House of Cards" fans. Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) likely won't be joining your next watch party.
In a Sunday op-ed for the Portland Press Herald, Frank flatly said the show is not how Washington works.
"Having watched several episodes, I agree that it is well acted," Frank said. "My problem is that it might mislead people into thinking that this is the way our political system actually works."
Frank also revealed his preference for "The West Wing," crediting that show as a "far better portrayal" because "the characters made mistakes, were occasionally wrong in their judgments, failed to anticipate important events, and were often troubled by doubts."
After serving more than three decades in Congress, Frank retired at the end of his term in January. In a June 2013 interview with the Huffington Post, he vowed not to return to Massachusetts politics as governor, saying there is "absolutely" no chance he will run.
"Also, I'm emotionally exhausted," Frank added. "I got married a couple years ago. I have a wonderful marriage with a man who does not want to move and be the first man of Massachusetts and I wouldn't want him to be."
