MIA's 'Unbreak My Mixtape' Samples Blur, Carly Simon; Documentary Seemingly Back On

MIA Does Blur, Carly Simon, Restarts Documentary

Because there's no time for a dull moment in the MIA universe (or on @MIAUniverse, her Twitter handle), the singer dropped a new track and seemingly confirmed that her much anticipated documentary was back on.

Let's start with the documentary. MIA tweeted "doc started back up today," so either the project of Steve Loveridge is back on track or everyone's favorite Tamil provocateur is receiving medical care.

A trailer for the documentary previously teased a gripping look at the controversial singer's career, but the director reportedly quit after tiring of warring with Roc Nation and Interscope, MIA's labels. Loveridge posted emails between himself and the labels and leaked the trailer in protest.

As for the new track, "Unbreak My Mixtape," fans can hear MIA appropriating Blur's "Tender," Karen Dalton's "I Love You More Than Words Can Say" and Carly Simon's "Why." The song really does sound like a condensed mixtape, with MIA lazily singing her way over sample after sample. Take a listen above.

MIA's new album, "Matangi," is set for release on Nov. 5, unless if MIA makes good on her promise to leak the project early in the face of continued delays:
