Damian Sutton, 2-Year-Old, On Life Support After Alleged Beating, Mom's Boyfriend Charged

2-Year-Old On Life Support After Reported Beating

A 2-year-old Michigan boy is struggling to survive after allegedly suffering a severe beating from his mother's boyfriend.

Damian Sutton is in critical condition at Children's Hospital in Detroit in a medically-induced coma. He is suffering from swelling and bleeding in his brain, according to CBS Detroit.

The injuries reportedly happened while 26-year-old Ronald Dimambro, boyfriend to Damian's mother Nicole Sutton, was babysitting the child Wednesday. The Washington Township man was arraigned and charged with first-degree felony child abuse, according to the Detroit News. He is being held on bail set at $500,000. Local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV reports his lawyer entered a not guilty plea in court.

Damian's mother told the news station that she trusted Dimambro and had no idea something like this could happen.

According to CBS, Dimambro turned himself in and admitted to roughly shaking Damian and throwing him. Listen to his 911 call here.

"As the doctor told me, If he survives he is going to have severe brain damage and he's not going to be the same hyper, energetic Damian that I know," Tim Sutton, the boy's father, told WXYZ. "With how strong he is he'll pull through, and he'll be able to overcome it, I'm sure of it."
