Lady Gaga has been booked to host and perform as the musical guest during the upcoming season of "Saturday Night Live," according to a report from TV Line's Michael Ausiello.

Until "SNL" makes an announcement, all rumors about guest bookings on the venerable sketch show are unconfirmed. TV Line does not report when Gaga's episode is expected to air.

If Gaga does indeed host, it would mark the third time she will have made an appearance in Studio 8H, and the first time hosting. She acted as the musical guest on episodes hosted by Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

The episode would correspond with Lady Gaga's (real name: Stefani Germanotta) re-emergence after keeping a relatively low profile lately. Her new album, "ARTPOP," comes out November 11, following her latest single "Applause," currently at number 4 on the Billboard charts. She'll also make her film debut in Robert Rodriguez's "Machete Kills" in October.

This season of "SNL," the show's 39th, is expected to be especially transitional. Last season saw the departure of Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis, and Seth Meyers is expected to leave the show halfway through the season, with several new cast members heavily rumored to replace them. The changes are especially notable as "SNL" is widely reported to be one of NBC's top performing shows.

The next season of "SNL" will begin September 28.
