Zagat Ranks Katsu, Alinea, Topolobampo Among 2014 Best Chicago Restaurants (PHOTOS)

Zagat Reveals Latest Ranking Of Best Chicago Restos

Zagat did a little bit of shuffling for 2014, according to their recently-released Top Food in Chicago rankings.

Familiar spots like Katsu and Alinea still reign supreme, though the former knocked the latter from the perch it occupied in last year's rankings. The bigger surprises are farther down the list, with veggie heaven The Green Zebra shaken from the top 10 list altogether (it ranked at #8 in 2013).

(See Chicago's top 10 best restaurants as ranked by Zagat below.)

For the yearly rankings, restaurants are rated on a 30-point scale (30 indicating the highest quality) and are judged on four specific segments of the dining experience: food, decor, service and cost.

Zagat says it taps the "curated opinions of avid consumers with real experiences" and argues its method is "inherently more accurate and useful than the unfiltered comments of a few" (oh snap, Yelp).

In addition to ranking the top overall eateries, Zagat picked winners in specific cuisine categories -- few which will surprise any casual Windy City foodie: Hog Doug's nabbed the city's top hot dog honor, Kuma's scored a win for burgers, and the thin-crust Neapolitan pizza at Spacca Napoli raked in the city's top 'za honor (see Crain's for the full breakdown).

Below are the eateries that made the cut for the top 10. You can read Zagat's full list on their blog.

After you browse the top 10, let us know in the comments which Chicago restaurants you think should have made the cut.
