Fashion Week Look Of The Day: Marc Jacobs Gives Us The New 'It' Print To Covet (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Marc Jacobs Gives Us A New 'It' Print

You can't say that New York designers don't know how to put on a good show after having seen Marc Jacobs' Spring 2014 collection. Though many designers opt for a traditional affair at Lincoln Center, that's simply not Mr. Jacobs' style.

Instead, his spring show was held at the Armory, in a space that had been totally transformed to suit his vision. The room featured a black light, sand and an oversized lifeguard chair and seemed to be echoing a theme of a trip to the beach on acid. Or, quite possibly, shipwreck chic.

The collection featured embroidered officer jackets, extreme shoulder pads, beading and flat sneakers (which was probably how the models were able to sprint down the runway). Though all the looks offered inspiration, our favorite was one of the more wearable ensembles, a matching top and skirt combo. What we liked most about this look was the aloha Hawaiian floral print and the fringe detail. We love how Marc is sticking to one of his signature color palettes, but branching out with a new pattern, seen on various items throughout the show.

Remember the black and white stripes from his Spring 2013 collection? Yah, these floral motifs are the new stripes.
