Emily Ratajkowski cast in "Gone Girl" as Ben Affleck's mistress.
David Fincher loves him some Robin Thicke. That's at least one takeaway from the news that Fincher has cast model Emily Ratajkowski, who starred in Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, as Ben Affleck's college-aged mistress in "Gone Girl." TheWrap was first to report on Ratajkowski's casting, while noting that the role was "hotly contested" among young Hollywood actresses.
Over the summer, Rolling Stone helpfully provided an explainer on Ratajkowski, including help with the pronunciation of her last name. "The J is silent," she said. "That's the trick. Occasionally people get it right on the first try, just through random luck. People have told me to change it over the years, but my dad is always saying, 'Never change your name!' My middle name is O'Hara, so it's a pretty epic name. Emily O'Hara Ratajkowski."
More on Ratajkowski can be found over at Rolling Stone. Those interested in seeing the young star in action can watch the NSFW video for "Blurred Lines" below. For more on the film, head to TheWrap.
It is Blurred Lines' connotations with misogyny and sexual violence that have prompted the university boycotts. Social media is now rife with shouts of "censorship is not the solution" and "it's just a song" but I for one would absolutely support my university in banning it, and strongly urge them to do so.
