Organizing For Action, the successor organization to the Obama campaign, unveiled a new ad Monday hitting Republicans for linking a push to defund Obamacare with the continuing resolution to fund the government. The ad focuses on several Republicans' attempt to block a funding resolution, which expires on Sept. 30, in order to halt the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. If an agreement isn't reached, one study has shown that the debt ceiling limit would be reached as soon as mid-October.
"Forty times. That's how often a group of Republicans have voted against Obamacare just to prove their allegiance to their party's right wing," says a female narrator. "OK. They've said their piece. But now they've gone even further, threatening to shut down the government if Obamacare isn't dismantled."
"It could disrupt Social Security and veteran's benefits, hurt job growth and undermine our economic recovery. Tell these House Republicans: enough already," says the narrator.
OFA said the ad was playing on national television, but an OFA spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on where the ad was playing and how much the group spent on it.
