"Orange is the New Black" fans were stunned when news emerged that star Laura Prepon will not be returning as a series regular in Season 2 of the Netflix hit -- although she'll reportedly appear in one episode to wrap up her storyline.
Even more shocking is the possibility that even her co-stars don't know whether Prepon is returning to the show or not. During a visit to HuffPost Live (above), Uzo Aduba (who plays "Crazy Eyes"/Suzanne) wryly dodged questions about Prepon's role in Season 2, before admitting, "I don't know -- I can't speak on that, but what I do know is that we have an exciting season; I know that everybody on the show is phenomenal; I know Laura's amazing; I know that we have exciting stories to tell again this season as we did the last. I can't wait for people to see it."
In a recent interview with E! Online, Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman) admitted she wasn't sure of her co-star's status either: "I don't really know anything about that, I just know that she's an amazing actress and I've really had an incredible time working with her and I know that there's no end to that relationship," she said.
Fellow "OITNB" star Taryn Manning was equally in the dark, telling ET Online, "Well, there's a book and that character goes to another facility in that book. I'm not sure what’s going on, I definitely feel a bit of a loss, but to be totally honest with you, no one is really talking about it."
Whether that's spin to obfuscate what's really going on with Prepon's character or whether her castmates are truly unaware is anyone's guess, but considering filming is already underway for Season 2, we're sure to find out sooner rather than later.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
