Did 'Dads' Steal A 25-Year-Old Joke From 'Murphy Brown'?

Fox's new sitcom "Dads" has been slammed for being offensive, racist, sexist, ageist and one of the worst new comedies of the season -- but is it also guilty of joke stealing?

A joke that Martin Mull's character made in the pilot about the pronunciation of "Shiite" seemed lazy, but, truthfully, also the least of the show's many problems. It wasn't until we realized where we'd heard that exact joke before that the show got one final groan from us.

A very similar joke was made in the pilot for "Murphy Brown" ... 25 years ago.

Watch the video proof, above, and tell us: Is this just laziness or very belated comedy theft?

"Dads" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
