Seventeen Magazine Crowns Real Girl Cover Star!

Seventeen has finally picked its "Pretty Amazing" winner. Her name is Stacey Ferreira, she's 21 and she's the brains behind an Internet-based multimillion dollar company.

This is the magazine's third annual "Pretty Amazing" contest to pick a reader to appear on the cover and receive a $10,000 scholarship. Along with readers’ votes, Ferreira was named the winner by judges Ann Shoket, editor-in-chief of Seventeen, and pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen.

Ferreira was inspired to start her company, MySocialCloud, when her brother's laptop crashed, causing him to lose his passwords. She taught herself code and created a service where users could store their passwords on an online cloud. Billionaire Richard Branson caught wind of her idea, invested $1 million... and the rest is history. Though Ferreira is no longer the president of the company (she sold it three years after it launched), she still runs operations and is writing a book about the experience.

“Stacey represents today’s ultimate power girl,” Shoket said. “She created a multimillion dollar company, beginning with just an idea. She inspires girls everywhere to turn their ideas into big realities.”
