Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of a mother and daughter whose bodies were found late Sunday evening in the trunk of a burning vehicle in a Palos Park, Ill. forest preserve.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department said 50-year-old Robert Danno and 24-year-old Jose Fernardo Martinez-Hernandez were charged and set to appear in bond court Tuesday morning, the Associated Press reports.

The men are accused of strangling Danno's wife, Mary Ann Urban-Danno, 51, and her mother, Theresa Urban, 79. WGN said the women were killed Saturday night before the suspects drove their bodies to the forest preserve inside Urban-Danno's PT Cruiser where the car was set on fire.

The women are believed to be from Chicago, according to NBC Chicago, but were so badly "charred" that officials were not initially able to identify their age or gender.

Investigators searched the Cap Sauers Holdings Nature Preserve area surrounding where the vehicle was found with dogs and a helicopter on Sunday, Patch reports.
