Carrie Brownstein Interviews Pearl Jam, Band Reveals Current Inspirations

Pearl Jam has begun rolling out the special interviews the band commissioned from Judd Apatow, Carrie Brownstein, surfer Mark Richards and former NFL player Steve Gleason. Brownstein's sit down is first up, and the "Portlandia" star quizzed band members Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron on a variety of topics, including some recent inspirations.

"I can't wait for the new Coen brothers take on the New York folk scene. That's going to be so great," Gossard said, referring to "Inside Llewyn Davis." The new film, abotu a fictional singer in 1961 New York, made a splash at the New York Film Festival last weekend, and directors Ethan and Joel Coen hosted a concert event to celebrate the film on Sunday. (Joan Baez, Patti Smith, Jack White and others were in attendance; more on that event can be found here.)

Other recent favorites the band cited: "Searching for Sugar Man" (McCready), the work of Damien Hurst (Ament), a street art exhibit (McCready again). Watch the clip from Brownstein's interview above; head over to the IFC Facebook page to watch so much more. Pearl Jam's "Lightning Bolt" is out on Oct. 15.
