Twenty-Seven Animals Found Living In 800-Square-Foot Apartment

27 Animals Rescued From 800-Square-Foot Apartment

Four people in Colorado were charged with animal cruelty after investigators rescued 27 living animals from an 800-square-foot apartment in Denver.

Ken Rumery, 57, Linda Rumery, 50, Karla Rumery, 24, and Ian Nelson, 24, were each served a criminal summons charging them with animal cruelty, according to the Denver District Attorney's Office.

The Denver Animal Shelter impounded all of the animals, which were mostly dogs, on Sept. 25. Authorities found 22 dogs, one cat, two turtles, two hamsters, in addition to one dead puppy and three dead frogs.

The four charged are scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Nov. 1, 2013 at 10 a.m. for their first court appearance.

Anyone interested in helping out the animals can donate to the Denver Animal Shelter.
