UCLA Student Newspaper Forgot Something Before Sending To Print (PHOTO)

WHOOPS! Student Newspaper Forgot Something (PHOTO)

Something seemed a bit off on the front page of Tuesday's edition of the Daily Bruin, the University of California-Los Angeles student newspaper.

A photo posted on reddit shows a page designer left in filler text reading, "Please fill in this subhead with this brain thingey thanks yayayay."

The Daily Bruin didn't say anything about the mistake on their Facebook or Twitter accounts. Since the newspaper typically doesn't post its print version online, it's unclear whether any notice ran in Wednesday's paper.

Redditor RunBlitzenRun chimed in as someone involved with the mistake with an explanation of what happened:

I had a role in this happening — the paper already went through copy and was sent to the printer. The printer said they couldn't print one of the images on the front page so we had to really quickly redesign it (take a 4-column image off the front page) and send it over. This was around 2 a.m., almost 2 hours past our printer deadline, so everything was really rushed. We had to add the subhead to make things fit.
Needless to say, it didn't get checked over by copy again and the filler text didn't get replaced and now there are a few thousand copies of it on campus.
Sorry y'all :-/
This happens once or twice a year and it's why most publications stress using harmless filler text. Most of the time my filler text is about food... "Fill out this subhead hamburgers are tasty I'm hungry lasagna sounds delicious."

Most of the people commenting on reddit seemed to give the Daily Bruin a break, chalking it up as "stuff happens."
