'Revenge': Does Aiden Really Want To Help Victoria Take Down Emily? (VIDEO)

'Revenge': Whose Side Is Aiden On?

Last week on the "Revenge" season premiere, Aiden told Victoria that he wanted to help her take down Emily. Is that really what's going on? This week, he spent a lot of time trying to convince her that he really did want to take down his former lover. In doing so, he revealed some details about Emily, but he also kept many of her secrets.

“She betrayed me in a way you couldn’t even imagine," Aiden told Victoria. "Or, maybe you can, as I’m sure David Clarke’s treachery lit a fire inside you.”

“Don’t make inferences to my past, nor try to compel me by straining to link David with whatever Emily is up to," Victoria responded.

“Don’t be so sure," Aiden said, but Victoria didn't catch the subtle reference to the link between David Clarke and Emily Thorne. The moment did resonate with critics, though.

Hollywood Life's Avery Thompson wrote that "if Aiden is actually playing Victoria, he is doing a great job. He legitimately sounds like he wants Emily to burn.” But is that what he wants? Buddy TV's Gina Pusateri noted his mixed signals. "What I don't understand is if Aiden really wanted to destroy Emily, why wouldn't he just out her right then and there as being Amanda Clarke?" she wrote. "It seems like he's still protecting her secret, so his status as friend or foe is still a bit unclear.”

"Revenge" loves its little mysteries. The twists and turns continue every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
