Anaheim's Teemu Selanne received a standing ovation when he returned to the city where his NHL career began 21 years ago.
The 43-year-old star winger for the Ducks stepped on the ice in Winnipeg for the last time on Sunday as he closes out his legendary career in the National Hockey League. The Winnipeg faithful gave him a proper send-off in the same city where he broke the rookie scoring record in 1993.
Selanne was unexpectedly traded to Anaheim in 1996.
"This is a very special building. I always try to find people that I know (in the seats) and again I found people that I remember," Selanne told The SportsXchange, via Yahoo Sports. "This organization and this city really made me feel so special and at home."
