NBC Plans 'Remington Steele' Reboot: Sequel Series Will Follow The Detective's Daughter

Deadline reports that NBC has given a script commitment plus penalty to a reboot of "Remington Steele," the romantic dramedy that served as Pierce Brosnan's big break. It looks like the network is still willing to invest in nostalgia, despite "Ironside's" lackluster premiere ratings and the soft openings for "The Michael J. Fox Show" and "Sean Saves the World."

If picked up to series, "Remington Steele" will be reimagined as a half-hour comedy and a sequel to the previous iteration, which ran from 1982 to 1987 on the Peacock network. The reboot will reportedly center on Olivia Holt, the daughter of Remington Steele (Brosnan) and Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist), "as she reopens the once-world-famous Remington Steele Detective Agency -- only to fall into the same hilarious, action-packed, romantic entanglements of her parents."

Jay Scherick and David Ronn will pen the pilot script with Ruben Fleischer set to direct.
