Kanye West's 'Gone' Enters The Billboard Top 20 Eight Years After Its Release

In 2005, Kanye West dropped his sophomore studio album, "Late Registration," to high critical acclaim and commercial success. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, went multi-platinum, and was heralded as an "undeniable triumph."

Eight years after the release of "Late Registration," a song from the album is just now entering the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Gone," which served as the standard closing track of the album, hit the chart at No. 18 this week. A collaboration with Cam'ron and Consequence, "Gone" was recently featured in a video that went viral, pushing the track to the top 20.

Last month, a woman named Marina Shifrin recorded a video of herself dancing to West's "Gone" to inform her employer that she was quitting her job. The video took off, earning Shifrin another job offer, in addition to skyrocketing "Gone."

According to Billboard, "Gone" is seeing success across multiple charts. The song hit No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart, No. 6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and No. 4 on the Rap Songs chart.
