Deion Sanders Parts With Charter School He Co-Founded After Confrontation

Posted: Updated:

DALLAS (AP) — NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is no longer affiliated with the charter school he co-founded following a confrontation this week with a school administrator.

Prime Prep Academy Superintendent Rachel King-Sanders says in a statement posted on the school's website that Sanders "is no longer an employee or representative" of the academy. Sanders coached at the school and served in other capacities.

He has acknowledged that a confrontation occurred Wednesday during an after-school meeting. The academy's chief financial officer contends Sanders grabbed him by the throat and threw him to the ground. Sanders went to Twitter to deny an assault occurred, saying he was acting in the interest of students when a heated exchange began.

The academy has two campuses, one in Dallas and the other in Fort Worth.
