In a world filled with artificial food coloring, high fructose corn syrup and GMOs, foods have come a long way from their roots. But a heightened interest in organic products, GMO labeling, and super foods suggest a general distaste with and fear of these foods.

We were curious which foods and ingredients our readers are most afraid of eating -- and we got some powerful responses. From fast foods to those nicknamed with acronyms, there are some threatening items out there -- which freaks you out the most? Add to the responses by letting us know in the comments.

  • GMOs

  • The prevalence of convenience foods which are loaded with preservatives, sodium,chemicals, HFCS or other added sugars. We have gotten away from cooking real food and now everything is frankenfood. Salt or sugar are not bad in and of themselves, but we have gotten used to unbelievable amounts of them in processed food.
