Julian High School Brawl: 29 Students Arrested After Massive 'Disturbance' At South Side School

29 Students Arrested In Massive Brawl At South Side High School

More than two dozen students at a high school on Chicago's South Side were arrested Tuesday morning after a massive fight broke out inside the school.

Officers responded to reports of a "disturbance" involving multiple students at Percy Julian High School about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the city's Washington Heights neighborhood, according to DNAinfo Chicago.

Among those arrested and charged with mob action Tuesday were 26 male students and three females and no injuries were reported in the fight, NBC Chicago reports. All have been charged as juveniles.

According to ABC Chicago, it is believed the fight may have been caused by a disagreement between rival gangs.

Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Becky Carroll said in a statement reported by the Chicago Sun-Times the incident "was quickly resolved thanks to swift action taken on the part of Julian High School staff, CPD and CPS, and all classes and activities resumed as normal."

Extra security were on hand at the school following the brawl and remained there as of Wednesday morning.
