Ted Nugent To Serve As Co-Chairman, Treasurer Of Sid Miller's Campaign In Texas

Nugent Takes On Big Political Role

Right-wing rocker Ted Nugent is getting even more involved in politics, promising to "raise as much hell" as he can as the co-chairman and treasurer of Republican Sid Miller's campaign for agriculture commissioner.

The Texas Tribune reports Nugent is helping the former state representative because he believes "in guys who stand by the Constitution."

"I believe in guys who represent 'we the people' and common sense," Nugent said.

Nugent recently criticized the government for being "so out of control."

"It is so bloated and infested with fraud and deceit and corruption and abuse of power," Nugent said, according to the AP. "The American government today will go down and the American people, it breaks my heart to say ... will go down as the dumbest, most unappreciative society in the history of humankind."

Nugent hasn't been shy about expressing his conservative views on controversial political topics like stop-and-frisk, racial profiling and President Barack Obama's birth certificate. His commentary on politics even led Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) to invite him to Obama's 2013 State of the Union address.
