Updated story:
Police have arrested a Wisconsin man initially held as a "person of interest" after a woman's body was found in the trunk of a car parked near a Greyhound bus depot in Chicago Sunday.
The grey four-door sedan with Wisconsin plates was parked in a lot under the Eisenhower Expressway in the 500 block of South Jefferson Street, ABC Chicago reports. Police discovered the body in the trunk about 6:25 p.m.
The 30-year-old Wisconsin woman suffered "obvious trauma," the medical examiner's office said according to NBC Chicago. The woman was unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead at an area hospital an hour after she was discovered.
Local police said they received a tip from police in Kenosha, Wisc. after a man reportedly walked into the station and confessed to killing his girlfriend, CBS Chicago reports.
The 40-year-old man claims he got into a fight with his girlfriend and killed her by accident before placing her body in a duffel bag in the trunk and driving to Chicago; the man then took the train back north.
Police are investigating and were withholding details about the woman's identity pending family notification. An autopsy of the woman's body is planned for Monday.
